Noida Medical College gets nod to start Broad speciality DNB courses
Noida: Months after getting the Letter of Permission (LOP) from the Medical Council of India (MCI) to start the MBBS programme with 100 seats, the Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida, (GIMS) is now moving to offer Diplomate of National Board (DNB) courses in paediatrics and gynaecology in association with National Board of Examinations (NBE).
The medical college is reported to have secured permission for starting DNB courses in paediatrics and gynaecology with four and two candidates respectively. The permission came following the NBE inspection that was conducted in January 2020 while the remaining specialities including medicine, surgery and anaesthesia await NBE inspection, suggests a recent HT report.
The institute will reportedly get a minimum of 20 postgraduate (PG medical )seats for the academic session 2020.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the medical college had made all preparations and the first batch was to start on August 1, 2019, with 100 MBBS students.
Thereafter, the institute had applied for around 20 to 25 seats in five different streams including paediatrics, gynaecology, medicine, surgery and anaesthesia and inspection was held for the same. As per Dr Gupta, the inspecting team were satisfied with the hi-tech infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories and skills lab.
"The team members also hailed our faculty, who are dedicated and well-versed in the latest medical advancements and trained in the newer curriculum guidelines of the MCI," Dr Gupta told HT.
