Doon Medical College aims to start 6 PG Medical courses, undergoes MCI inspection
Dehradun: The Medical Council of India (MCI) recently visited the Government Doon Medical College & Hospital (GDMCH) to conduct an inspection of the premises to assess the services and facilities available in the hospital. The medical college had applied for the commencement of 6 PG medical courses including Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Community Medicine and Pathology.
As per the report by the Pioneer, the medical college is likely to get the MCI's nod for the courses.
The MCI team visited the college and associated hospital to inspect the infrastructure, faculty and facilities of the medical college. The team conducted a 2-day assessment which was held on 14 and 15 January 2020.

"The college intends to start PG courses in Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Community Medicine and Pathology to start with," Dr Ashutosh Sayana, Principal GDMC informed The Pioneer.
He further added that the MCI team seemed satisfied with the facilities and the faculty. The college would face no problem in getting the necessary recognition. MCI team noted in their report that it would recommend the initiation of the PG courses at Government Doon Medical College and Hospital to the Union Ministry of Medical Health and Family Welfare, adds the daily.
Doon medical college has about 150 MBBS seats. Doon hospital of the GDMCH was established in 1935. It is a fully functional more than 300 bedded hospital having Central Laboratory, ICU, Emergency, Modern OT'S, MRI, CT Scan, Colour Doppler and full strength of specialist staff is available in this state of art ISO certified hospital.

Medical Dialogues had recently reported that to impart faculty training to its doctors so these medical professionals can improve the doctor-patient relationship and at the same time, they get sensitised with teaching skills for the new MBBS curriculum, the Doon Medical College is going to offer several crash courses from January 2020.
The training will be given by experts coming from Rishikesh and Delhi branches of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), King George's Medical University (KGMU), and many other renowned medical colleges across the country.
