Scared of Exam Failure: MBBS student allegedly commits suicide in Recreation room of Medical College

Agra: A second-year MBBS student at Mathura-based KD Medical College has allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the recreation room of the institute. The medico was allegedly upset over not doing well in examinations and was scared that the results would be as good.


According to a media report, the MBBS student was missing since morning on Thursday. The mobile phone was left in her hostel room below her bed's pillow in vibration mode. Her roommate tried to find at every place where he could possibly go but could not find. She informed the hostel warden regarding her.


The police, the medical college administration and the family of the MBBS student were immediately informed by the warden.


A search was carried out on the campus during which someone noticed that the recreation room was locked from inside. When the glass window was broken, the body of the MBBS student was found hanging. Her body was taken out and was sent for the post-mortem.

During the investigation of the case, it was told by her batchmate that she allegedly did not perform well in the examinations and was scared about the impending results and that could allegedly be a reason for her to take the extreme step. However, no suicide note was found from the spot.


Chhata circle officer, Jagdish Kali Raman informed the TOI, that more information regarding the matter will come after the post-mortem and the police will act if something is found suspicious in the case.


Her family informed that she spoke to her mother was around 10:15 pm on May 9 after which she was no interaction.


A relative of the deceased informed the daily that he received the information from her roommate but not from the administration.


He stated, "I was surprised that no one from the administration or the hostel informed the family immediately and waited for 18 hours."
