5 New Neet Centers in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: 5 new National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test Centers for the Undergraduate (NEET-UG) examinations for admissions to MBSS and BDS courses have been announced in the state. The new centers are to be located in Alappuzha, Kollam, Palakkad Kottayam, and Malappuram, the existing centers are at Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram Kannur, Kozhikode, and Thrissur


Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that Tweeting about setting up of 43 new centres, Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said all the cities from where 4,000 and more candidates have applied and which were not exam centres in 2017 have been added as centre cities.

Of the 43 new centres, four were added in Odisha (Angul, Balasore, Cuttack, Sambalpur), six in Maharashtra (Beed, Buldhana, Jalgaon, Latur, Mumbai-Suburban, Solapur), two in Tamil Nadu (Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur), five in Kerala (Alappuzha, Kollam, Kottayam, Malappuram, Palakkad), two in Telangana (Khammam, Ranga Reddy),five were added in Andhra Pradesh (Kakinada, Kurnool, Nellore, Rajahmundry, Vizianagaram), two in Assam (Silchar, Tezpur), three in Gujarat (Godra, Patan, Valsad), three in Uttar Pradesh (Allahabad, Kanpur, Meerut), three in West Bengal (Burdwan, Hoogli, North 24-Pargana) and one each in Karnataka (Dharwad), Punjab (Amritsar), Uttarakhand (Roorkee), Rajasthan (Bikaner), Jharkhand (Jamshedpur) Jammu and Kashmir (Udhampur), Himachal Pradesh (Dharamshala), Chhatisgarh (Bilaspur) reports Deccan Chronicle.


The Online application forms for NEET 2018 are now available for submission until March 9. The last date for the payment of fees to write the examination - which will be held on May 6 - is March 10.


The setting up of these new centres was announced by CBSE, which has been entrusted with the task of conducting the NEET exam by the MCI.


Meanwhile, Delhi High Court has put a stay on the operation of a CBSE notification laying down eligibility conditions. This includes the upper age limit being set at 25 and 30 years for general and reserved categories respectively, to apply for MBBS course.

The bench has also given the open school and private students who have appeared from a recognized board to apply for the examinations. The judicial authority has clarified that the interim order would continue till the next date of hearing on April 6. The court, while passing its interim order, had made it clear that while the candidates were allowed to submit their applications for the entrance exam, it did not imply that they could appear for the NEET Entrance exam
