MCI gives nod to Tamil Nadu Medical College to begin DM Medical Gastroenterology, DM Neurology
Thoothukudi: In its first, the Thoothukudi Medical College (TMC) has received permission of the Medical Council of India (MCI) to start super speciality course for the academic year 2019-20.
The medical college gained the nod for the Doctorate of Medicine course in two specialities-- DM Medical Gastroenterology and DM Neurology, with one and two seats respectively. The admission procedure will begin in August 2019.
To get through the 3-year advance level degree course in the said institution, candidates have to qualify the NEET SS examination after completing their MD course.

The Thoothukudi Medical College is a premier government institute in South India. The college is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University and is recognized by the Medical Council of India and the World Health Organization.
The college is extended over a campus of around 25 acres and has well-equipped lecture halls, libraries, reading rooms, auditoria and hostel facilities. The institution offers MBBS course, Postgraduate courses, and Diploma Courses in various disciplines.
Currently, the MBBS seat intake of the institution is 150. Last year, the institute was given 32 seats to start the MD and MS courses in various departments.
The institution got the permission to start MD General Medicine and MD Paediatrics with 10 and 6 seats respectively while the MS General Surgery and MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology were given 10 and 6 seats respectively.

Now, overwhelmed with the MCI nod for DM courses, Dean Dr S Balasubramanian informed the Hindu that Doctorate of Medicine would be available in Medical Gastroenterology and Neurology, with one and two seats respectively at the medical institute.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Super Speciality courses, known as NEET SS is the gateway to DM and MCh courses in the country at present.

3 | Date of Issue of Admit Card | 21st June 2019 |
4 | Examination Date | 28th June 2019 |
5 | Declaration of Result | by 15th July 2019 |
