What should be the Fee for MBBS, BDS Courses at Deemed Universities? UGC asks public

New Delhi: Golden opportunity of Medical students and parents! University Grants Commission, the statutory body Ministry of Human Resource Development, charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education in the country has invited suggestions from the public for fixing up the fee for medical and dental courses at deemed universities.

Through a recent public notice, the University Grants Commission invited suggestions for fixing the fee structure of self-financed institutions deemed to be universities for medical and dental courses. The public notice follows the directions of the Madras HC in this regard. The notice clearly states




Pursuant to the directions received from the Hon'ble Madras High Court, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has constituted a Committee to regulate the fees chargeable by self-financed Institutions Deemed to be Universities in Medical and Dental courses.


This Committee has been entrusted with the task of fixing the fees for Medical and Dental courses offered by self-financed Institutions Deemed to be Universities after giving all stakeholders including the Institutions Deemed to be Universities adequate opportunity of representation.


The Committee has decided to seek feedback comments/ suggestions from stakeholders/general public on the current fee structure of self-financed Institutions Deemed to be Universities for Medical & Dental courses and proposed fee structure.


It is requested to send the feedback/comments/suggestions (not more than 200 words) on the above matter to UGC by e-mail on dufeerequlation.ugc@qmail.com on or before 15th September 2018.



Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that an 11 member national level fee regulation committee to fix MBBS course fee for deemed universities across the country was constituted by the University Grants Commission after the Supreme Court gave a directive for the same.
