West Bengal: 3 miscreants arrested cheating medical aspirant of Rs 30 lakh

Kolkata: Sekhar Mondal,(26), a resident of Boalidanga Village, Berhampore was fooled into giving away Rs 30 lakhs to three miscreants who promised him a medical seat at ICare Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Haldia for an MBBS Course. The three were arrested by the kolkata police on Wednesday, on the basis of a complaint filed by Mondal. They remanded to police custody till June 19. After being produced at the Alipore Court on Thursday.


The police started an investigation of the case after receiving a complaint from Mr. Mondal in April this year.


Mondal's police complaint revealed to them that the three accused -Sanchayan Dasgupta alias Sanchayan Sengupta (34) from Picnic Garden area, Debashis Dalai (35) of Pataspur in Purba Medinipur and Nayan Banerjee (41) a resident of Block-D , Kalyani — had taken the cheated sum in two installments, assuring him admission to a medical college.


Interrogations by the police revealed that the three culprit had opened a company by the name of 'IQ Educational Service' in 2015 at 12, Park Terrace, PS-Survey Park. They duped medical aspirants of huge sums on the promise of medical admissions.


Senior police officers on a a tip-off, raided 'Ullas Bar and Restaurant' on Kalyani Expressway in North 24 Parganas, on Wednesday night, and arrested the accused who were involved in the Mondal cheating case. Police revealed that the accused in order to escape arrest often switched off their mobiles and changed their hideouts as wel reports millenium post.
