Vellore Medical College Medico attempts on her life, along with lover

Vellore: A Government Vellore Medical College Hospital (GVMCH) final year student attempted suicide along with her lover (who she wanted to marry) by hanging herself along with him, from the ceiling. The medico survived the attempt, while her lover met with instantaneous death. The girl's parents were against the match, which led the two to attempt on their lives. The incident took place in a hotel room on Tuesday night opposite the GVMCH.


The deceased boy has been identified as Karthikeyan, 27, and a medical representative by profession. According to the police investigating the case, the two had been in a relationship for the past 5 years. They hailed from Polur in Tiruvannamalai district. The girl's family which was against the relationship was trying their best to dissuade her from getting married to the boy.


They are believed to have hung themselves in the bathroom of the hotel. People who saw them hanging came to their rescue immediately; however, the boy had stopped breathing by then.


Shanthi (name changed) was taken to GVMCH, where she was declared out of danger.
