Dehradun: The Doon Medical College’s CT Scan machine lies non operational for want of annual maintenance, causing tremendous harassment to the visiting patients .The machine has been lying idle for the past 10 days as it has yet to be serviced. It happens to be the only city scan machine in the hospital.

"With no functioning CT scan machine, I saw patients being taken around in wheelchairs by their guardians. This can be stressful for them as well as for their families," said Aparna Kumari, a Dalanwala, MDDA colony resident, whose mother is admitted at the hospital.

A member of the hospital staff preferring anonymity said, "Those coming for treatment from far-flung areas are hard hit. Many have even postponed their visit due to unavailability of the CT scan facility."

Dr K K Tamta, Medical Superintendent of the hospital said the CT scan machine is non-functional, as it awaits annual maintenance.

"On the day the machine broke down we had informed senior officials of our department as well as the health department that the annual maintenance of the machine is due. The MRI machine is not working due to short circuit. The problem will be resolved soon."
