Dehradun: Government Doon Medical College is facing flak due to the closure of its dialysis Unit till Saturday for repair and renovation. The CT-scan machine at the hospital has already been lying non-functional for more than two months, with the hospital administration maintaining a discreet silence, apart from an occasional assurance.

According to information revealed by sources, the administration is already on the job of getting the RO machine and water pump repaired, as dialysis cannot be performed without distilled water.

Medical Superintendent, Dr K K Tamta, issuing a clarification said “Nothing is wrong with machines, we are only renovating the unit.”

The unit which closed down on Wednesday, has caused inconvenience and expense for patients visiting the hospital, as they have had to seek more expensive alternatives.

Assuring normalcy within a week, the College Principal, Pradeep Bharti Gupta said, “The file has already reached to the official concerned, and the payment will be cleared this week. We will not allow our patients to suffer at any cost,” reports the TOI.
