Uttar Pradesh: NEET PG counselling cancelled

Lucknow: Several pending Court cases have led to the state government of Uttar Pradesh cancelling all first and second rounds of counsel ling done in the state run medical colleges for PG medical seats. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also postponed the counselling scheduled for May 31 in the state till further orders from it.


A letter from the Central Ministry to the Principal Secretary of the state said that the counselling undertaken by the Uttar Pradesh Directorate General of Medical Education (UPDGME), has been cancelled. The cancellation includes PG medical seats in JN Medical College(JNMC) of Aligarh Muslim University(AMU) and Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) of Banaras Hindu University (BHU).


The letter issued by KK Krishnan, Under Secretary, Government of India, states, "Due to uncertain condition and several cases pending in high court and Supreme Court, cancel all counselling done by UPDGME, including first and second round and postpone counselling scheduled to be held on May 31 till further orders," reports TOI
