Uttar Pradesh: Five district hospitals to be upgraded to government medical college

Lucknow: Reiterating the commitment of providing better medical facilities to patients Uttar Pradesh government has decided to upgrade district hospitals with 200 or more beds to government medical colleges.


Highly placed sources here said, that in first phase district hospitals of Faizabad, Basti, Behraich, Firozabad, and Shahjahanpur will be upgraded to government medical colleges with advanced medical facilities.


Over 100 seats of MBBS will also be available in these colleges from next session.


The patients from nearby districts will also be benefited with these medical colleges.


Medical dialogues team had earlier reported that in the month of March 2018 , the Ministry of Health had identified 58 districts in 20 states/UTs which will be targeted for conversion of district hospitals to medical colleges. These included the 5 above medical colleges
