UP : Paucity of medicine funds haunts SN medical College Hospital
Agra: The budget pertaining to free medication at the out patient department(OPD), of Sarojini Naidu Medical College Hospital is meagre when compared to the 1500 patient footfall at the college hospital.
“A 3 crore budget for purchase of medicines, oxygen and other essentials was earmarked for last year and has not witnessed much of an increase for the present year,” said Principal Dr. Saroj Singh.
“The funds we receive for medicines at the department are extremely low. The amount we actually require is 3 times more than what we get. The funds we received this year have been utilised properly, but we're still not able to provide free medicines to all those who want it. It is an impossible task with this sort of a budget," she added.
The principal said that they were dealing with medicine shortage at their end and all that they could do was request for more funds and an increase in budget.
