UP: Medical aspirants below 10,000 rank lock seats on IVth day at GSVM medical college

Kanpur: The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-2016 counselling at Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (GSVM medical college), on its fourth day had candidates who have secured above ten thousand ranks complete the registration process on Wednesday.

Candidates who had successfully completed their registrations on Tuesday were also invited to lock their seats for the private medical colleges, as seats in general and OBC open categories of all fourteen government medical colleges across the state had already been locked on the first two days of the counselling.


The rush on the fourth day was driven by the urge to acquire a seat in a private medical college at the rate of a government college fee.


According to the UPNEET website all open seats in both general and OBC categories, have already been locked. The total seats being 1,544 in number.


Students between 4001 to 10,000 state rank have been invited by the GSVM medical college administration for seat locking process for private medical colleges of the state on Thursday after 12 pm.


Even on fourth day of the counselling, the arrangement made for the students and their parents was poor. In the ongoing hot and humid weather, no arrangement was made for the parents who were spotted resting under the trees or under shades of the college building.

Meanwhile on Wednesday, students who had opted for Rama Medical College, the only private medical college of the city, reached the college and went through the registration process to confirm their admissions.


College principal, Dr R K Srivastava informed that out of total 86 seats in their college, half of them would be given to the NEET qualified candidates. According to him 22 students reported on Wednesday. After verifying the documents, admission to candidates would be given as per administration norms, the Principal added.
