UP: LLRM medical college reports six theft cases in 45 days

UP: There has been a spate of theft cases in the LLRM medical college in the last 45 days. Concerned and agitated over these theft incidents, medical students and doctors got into action, by putting pressure on police over their alleged inaction over the matter. Many doctors staged a dharna outside the medical police station.

Even though the medical police station is situated within the area of LLRM College, the thefts have reported taken place so many times. The most recent thefts happened in the wee hours. The reported incidents happened when thieves entered a doctor's accommodation, by cutting the door mesh. The thieves are still unidentified.

The reported incident was at the government accommodation of Dr Gajraj Singh, assistant professor in the department of orthopaedics. The thieves stole the mobile handsets and cash; even though the police station is at a short distance of 100 metres and still the police came to the spot half an hour late.

Members of the doctors' fraternity implied that this is the 6^th theft in the last 45 days. The police still has no clue about these incidents. said this was the sixth incident of theft in the area in the past 45 days and the police continued to be clueless.

Giving details, Dr Singh's wife, Sandhya Gautam, told TOI, "At 3 am, I felt someone brushing past my bed. When I opened my eyes, I realized that a few men were in the house. For a moment I felt paralyzed as my husband was sleeping in the adjacent room with his ailing mother. I couldn't comprehend the scale of this activity. All sorts of thoughts flashed my mind. Somehow I gained strength and raised an alarm after which the miscreants fled the house. The thieves had gained entry by cutting through the iron mesh of the door, which opens in the backyard. Later, we got to know that my husband's wallet, Rs 15,000 and mobiles phones had been stolen."

It is further reported that the thieves have snapped the CCTV cameras and also took a DVR.

When TOI spoke to Ravindra Vashishth, SO, medical police station, he downplayed all the six thefts.

"There seems to be a petty thief who is committing these thefts. We are trying to arrest him. In fact, security is an issue here. Boundary walls of the college are broken and anyone can enter the premises. Even Tuesday's theft was conducted on similar lines as the previous ones. The robber took away some money and wallet."
