TS EAMCET-2 results declared- Highlights

Telangana: TS EAMCET-2 2016 has been released at the official website www.tseamcet.in. The rank list has also been released along side. The preliminary keys were published on July 09 after the exam. The final answers were to be published with the results of the exam.

The declared results included the marks of each student scored in the exam, basis which the rank list will be prepared. JNTU-K will not dispatch rank cards to candidates. It has to be downloaded from the website. The print out of the rank card has to be carried by the candidate during counseling and admission process. Counseling dates will be announced soon. Some of the important highlights include

The officials have confirmed that 47,644 candidates have qualified in the exam. Girls outshine the boys, with 32, 067 girls qualifying and 15,577 boys qualifying for the exam. However, the proportion of girls in comparison to boys dropped in the top 10 list. Six boys have made it to the top 10 list of the medical entrance test.

Hyderabad boy has secured the top rank in the entrance exam. Rajupalem Ujwal from Hyderabad has topped the exam, scoring 97.66%. The second rank holder is Kasam Aishwarya, scoring 97.66% and third position is held by Mudupulavemula Sai Sushrutha, scoring 97.61%.

TS EAMCET-2 2016 also saw a high per cent of 93.49% passing the exam. Interestingly, the ST (98.77 per cent) and SC (98.22 per cent) registered the highest pass percentage.

Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao in his statement implied that the certificate verification process will begin from July 25 till July 29 for candidates under the general category. Fixed dates for students under special category will be from July 30-31. Special category students include, physically challenged, Army and Sports. Besides, web counseling is expected to be start in the beginning of next month.

The seats for Ayush courses is to be filled through EAMCET-1.The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences Vice Chancellor, B. Karunakar Reddy said to The Hindu that seats of AYUSH courses would be filled based on the ranks obtained in EAMCET-I and not EAMCET-II. Following the medical and dental admissions, students will be admitted for the Ayush courses.

Besides, ranks secured in NEET will be sought for admission in management quota seats offered by the private colleges. These are 35 per cent reserved seats and another 15 percent are offered under the NRI quota.

Majority of the toppers prefer to take admission in Osmania Medical College, and cardiology seems to be their most preferred field of specialization. "I want to become a cardiologist after completing MBBS from Osmania Medical College," said Kasam Aishwarya to TOI.

Sai Sushrutha, who prepared for medicine admission for the last three years, clearing the exam in the first attempt was a dream come true. "I want go beyond intensive care and general medicine and become a cardiologist," said Sushrutha, one of the two candidates from Andhra Pradesh who found place in the top 10 list.

Every year, JNTU-H allots 25% weightage to marks secured in intermediate or equivalent exam, followed by 75% to the marks secured in the medical entrance test. This year, 134 qualifiers in EAMCET-2 did not pass the intermediate exam. Besides, the university also did not have details of 427 qualifiers from Telangana.
