TN: Second phase of counselling for MBBS seats

Chennai: The second phase of counselling for MBBS and BDS courses is on at Amandurar Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital in Anna Malai. The counselling will continue till September 24. The first phase of counselling for MBBS and BDS colleges both government and self financing was held between 20 & 25 June.


2,379 seats in Government medical colleges and 85 seats in dental colleges were filled in the earlier phase. During the same phase of counselling 470 seats were filled in private medical colleges. The second phase of counselling is meant to fill vacant seats in both government and private self financing medical institutions.


Presently there are 7 MBBS seats vacant in Government Medical College and a 122 in private colleges of the state. Vacant seats in Chennai Government Medical College happen to be 12 in number, while 970 of them are yet to be filled in private colleges.Apart from these, 397 MBBS and 12 BDS seats are reserved under the All India Quota.These were to have been filled by September 20; and the remaining transferred as state allotments.


According to the Medical Council of India’s directive, all seats are to be filled by September 30.The central Government has mentioned that this year’s medical admissions do not have to be based on NEET.
