Telangana: Private medical Colleges Trying to Sell Left-Over and Blocked Seats, Allege Students

Telangana: PG Medical aspirants and Junior doctor associations are alleging that Private medical colleges are trying to sell left-over and blocked seats. Clinical seats are being sold for were sold for Rs 2.2 crore each, they allege.


According to them the rate for radiology, general medicine, obstetrics, gynecology seats varies between Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 2.5 crore. As per court orders, the fees for management quota-1 is Rs 36 lakh, and for Rs 1 crore for management quota-2 and 3 seats respectively.


Chairman, Telangana Junior Doctor Associations, Dr P.S. Vijayender, said private colleges denied admission to meritorious students in the name of bank guarantees and wherein reality selling those seats.


Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor, Dr B. Karunakar Reddy told Deccan Chronicle, “We cannot use the word ‘sell’ as the government has prescribed the fees between Rs 24 lakh and Rs 72 lakh for mq1 and mq2. This is quite high and no one is coming forward to pay such high fees.”


He said private colleges could admit candidates by charging the fees prescribed by the court. “If the students stop blocking seats, there will be no vacant seats. To avoid left-overs, students should avoid blocking the seats if they are not interested in joining the college,” he added.
