Telangana: Private medical colleges to reduce NRI fee to fill up Vacant MBBS Seats

Of the 15% seat reservations granted for persons of Indian origin, overseas citizens of India, non-resident Indians and foreigners quite a few have been left vacant for the year 2018-2019.


Hyderabad: The fee structure for ‘C’ category(NRI Quota) seats in Private Medical Colleges in the state have recently been reduced after many of them went vacant after the first phase of Counselling that ended last week Thursday.


Of the 15% seat reservations granted for persons of Indian origin, overseas citizens of India, non-resident Indians and foreigners quite a few have been left vacant for the year 2018-2019.


The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences revealed 120 MBBS and 102 BDS seats under the ‘C category’ (also known as the NRI quota seats) in Telangana to have gone vacant after the first phase of counselling


Telangana colleges annual fees for NRI seats ranges between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 28 lakh per year. According to official claims several minority colleges, fee has been reduced by various amounts going upto a reduction of Rs 8 lakh for the academic year 2018-19.


“Colleges such as Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences, RVM Medical College and Dr V R K Women’s Medical College are among those that have voluntarily reduced the annual tuition fee for NRI seats this year,” said Karunaker Reddy, KNRUHS Vice-Chancellor to the TOI, adding that the decision had come forth following discussions with qualified candidates.


While Dr V R K Women’s Medical College has reduced the category C fee from Rs 28 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, Shadan Institute has reduced the tuition fee from Rs 23 lakh to Rs 22 lakh for NRI candidates this year,
