Telangana: 91 students pass out from the fourth batch of RIMS

Telangana: Despite a shortage of faculty reported by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, RIMS Director Ashok, there is good news for the institute.

RIMS have recently reported that 91 students out of a total of 102 from the fourth batch of MBBS course have passed the final year exams. The students appeared for the exams at the NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada.

RIMS Director Ashok commenting on the shortage of faculty at the institute implied statistically that RIMS only had 44 doctors against its approved total of 150. There is a consistent effort from the government to address the shortage and fill up the vacancies. This in turn, is also expected to offer better services to people at the hospital.

As quoted by Hindu, dwelling upon the subject of shortage of doctors, the Director said the government was making efforts to fill the vacancies. This would also provide better service to patients who come to the hospital. Dr. Ashok said an ICU would be started next month though it will take another three years for the RIMS hospital to get all super speciality services. At present, laparascopy operations are being done, he added.
