Tamil actor's son arrested for stalking medical student

Mithun, film star Bhuvaneshwari’s son was arrested by the Tamil Nadu police recently on stalking charges. Mithun is believed to have been shadowing a third-year MBBS student and allegedly threatening to pour kerosene on her.


To make matters worse the accused, Mithun Sirinivasan is alleged to have threatened the medical student of meeting a similar fate met by Swathi -- a Chennai techie who was chopped to pieces at the Nungambakkam railway station last year, reports News Minute


The accused seem to have lost all control and even went to the girl’s college in Neelankarai and created a nuisance there. A third-year student at a college in Kattankulathur on the outskirts of Chennai's, he lives on Angel Street in Valsaravakkam with his mother.


This is not the first time that Mithun has troubled the girl; of the two earlier instances, the first as reported by the TOI to be the police version speaks of the accused going to the victim’s house, pouring kerosene around it and trying to show a match to it. However, he was persuaded from indulging in the criminal act by family members and neighbours.


The second incident was when he was seen breaking the CCTV cameras installed outside the house.


The Daily’s police version states that the girl and Mithun went to the same school, until the time she took up the MBBS course at a private college in Neelankarai.


Harassing the girl by Mithun did not end here as he continued to post messages on social media platforms. "As she kept avoiding him, he went to her house in Thirumangalam two months ago and threatened to pour kerosene on her and even tried to set her house ablaze," TOI quotes Inspector M Ravi as saying.


So strong was the reported obsession that Mithun started stalking the girl, visiting her college frequently. The girl then informed the parents of the harassment and a complaint was lodged at Thirumangalam Police Statio finally.


Mithun has been booked under Sections 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 448 (punishment for house trespass), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 506 (i) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act (penalty for harassment of women) reports Times Now.


Mithun is believed to have been married to a Sri Lankan woman called Asmitha who has now put in a petition for divorce through her parents in the Madras High Court, The News Minute quotes police sources as saying.
