Sustainable Development in hospital administration, need of the hour: Lok Sabha MP

Pune: Lok Sabha MP, Sumitra Mahajan, has emphasized on the need for sustainable development in hospital planning and administration. This could be implemented through the reduce, reuse and recycle mantra for overall development in the country, she added. Ms. Mahajan was speaking at the national conference on safe and sustainable hospitals (SASH-2016) organized by the Academy of Hospital Administration (Western Regional Chapter), in association with the Department of Hospital Administration, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune.

The guests of honour for the occasion included justice V S Kokje, former Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Air Marshal Pawan Kapoor, Director General, Medical Services (Indian Air Force).

"In every system there are positive and negative aspects. But sustainable development is necessary in hospital planning and administration," Mahajan inaugurating the conference formally reiterated.

Discussing trends and opportunities in healthcare in India presently, the conference also created a bona-fide student platform for perspective presentations on important issues, through academic research proposals and poster representations.

Justice Kokje expressed happiness over legal matters related to the medical and hospital fields being discussed at the national level.

"When we think about security issues, medical service comes as a priority. Security for the patient, along with their relatives and the medical staff is the hospital's priority," said Pawan Kapoor laying stress on the need for medical services being considered priority.
