Indira Gandhi Government Medical College: Students call off strike

Puducherry: Students of the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital here called off their four-day strike on Saturday evening following talks held with the Director of College.

The students were on strike demanding the immediate withdrawal of the tuition fee hiked form Rs.37,000 to Rs.1.37 lakh.

Dr V Govindarajan, Director of the College, for the second time held talks with the students and apprised them that the government medical college is functioning under a society and in view of this, the fee was enhanced. He assured that there will not be a fee hike for the next two years, following which the students called off their strike.
