Tragic: 3 MBBS Students going to celebrate after passing 2nd year; die in road accident

Jalandhar: In an unfortunate event, 3 MBBS students attached to the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), lost their lives in a road accident recently Jalandhar-Ludhiana national highway, while they were going to celebrate the completion of their 2ndyear with good grades.

According to the police, the motorcycle they were riding on; went out of control on the highway after which they fell and sustained grievous injuries.

The tragic incident took place on January 20th 2020, the day the results of the recent semester exam by the MBBS students were declared. Happy with their scores, the 3 students decided to celebrate their success and go to dinner together at a 24x7 restaurant on the Jalandhar-Ludhiana national highway near Phagwara.

On their way, they reportedly crashed into a divider after which they lost the balance of the bike and hit the ground sustaining severe injuries.

Area police station in-charge Madan Singh informed Tribune the accident occurred around 11.30 pm and when they reached the spot, the boys were lying in a pool of blood. As per investigation officer Rajwinder, apparently the tragedy occurred when the trio travelling on a motorcycle lost control over it and fell on the road. The bike was reportedly overspeeding due to which it broke into pieces and hit the divider. Sans helmets, the deceased sustained grievous injuries on their head.

Station House Officer (SHO), Narinder Mohan, informed The Indian Express that the three had died on the spot and their bodies were shifted to civil hospital where after the post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to the families.

A case was registered under Section 174 of the CrPC (Police to enquire and report on suicide) at Rama Mandi police station, reports HT
