J&K to not contribute to All India Quota scheme this year for PG Medical Admissions

New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has informed that the state of Jammu and Kashmir will continue with existing scheme regarding PG Medical admissions and not to contribute to All India Quota scheme for the academic year 2020-21.

The NBE has clearly stated, "Government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided that Jammu and Kashmir will continue with existing scheme regarding admissions to NEET PG courses and not to contribute to the scheme of All India Quota for the academic year 2020-21"

Candidates who have studied/passed MBBS from Jammu & Kashmir are accordingly not eligible for 50% All India Quota seats. However, the candidates who were nominated by the Government of India (under central pool seats) to do MBBS from Medical Colleges in Jammu & Kashmir shall be eligible to apply for admission on 50% All India Quota seats.

Such candidates must submit a duly signed affidavit declaring that he/she was nominated by the Government of India (under central pool seats) to do MBBS from Medical Colleges in Jammu & Kashmir to the following address along with the print out of the acknowledgement of submission of online application for NEET-PG 2020 latest by 10th February 2020. A Scanned copy of the duly signed affidavit also needs to be furnished through email at neetpg@nbe.edu.in

This year 1,67,102 medicos applied for the exam while 1,60,888 appeared on the day on the NEET PG exam.

NBE has conducted NEET-PG 2020 on 05/01/2020 in 169 cities across the country on a computer-based platform. NEET-PG is the only eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to all PG Medical courses in the country. In total, of the appeared 1,60,888, only 89549 passed NEET PG 2020.

This year saw maximum numbers of exam takers in the state of Tamil Nadu with 18,854 medicos appearing for the exam of which 11681 passed which is the highest number of qualifiers from all the states. When it comes to the maximum number of failures, 8,376 failed from the applied 17,208 in Maharashtra.
