SMS Medical College to get a super speciality centre, More SS Seats

Jaipur: The city’s Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical college and hospital will soon have a Rs 200 crore super speciality center and organ transplant center coming up, under the Prime Minister's Health Protection Scheme. It is the Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje initiative towards providing better medical facilities for patients. The medical students stand to benefit as the super speciality centre will increase seat numbers in the college.


The college administration approved of the plan two days ago. Of the Rs 200 crore expenses to be incurred, the state government will contribute Rs 80 crore, while the central government’s share would be Rs 120 crore.


Presently, there are 71 seats of DM and MCH in the super speciality wing. This number will rise to a 108 soon. The medical sector in the state will get a huge lift because of this initiative. The super speciality wing and organ transplant center will be constructed on bungalow number 9 and 10 near the trauma center.


Super speciality seats will increase by 50% in the department of Cardiology There will be a maximum of 11 seats in cardiology, and nephrology, nine in neurosurgery, three each in urology, seven in gastrology and four in gastroenterology.


The underpass, presently under construction between SMS hospital and trauma center will connect to this center.


The hospital administration will be installing a Rs 20 crore worth CT scan and MRI machines on one side of the underground parking. This construction is coming up to facilitate patients as they will not have to go to the trauma center.


The Principal, SMS Medical College, Dr US Agrawal, stated that super speciality center and organ transplant center preparations have virtually reached completion. According to him the state would get more specialist doctors with the increasing super-speciality seats, reports Pink City Post


The foundation stone will be laid either this or next month he added.
