Similar set of question papers in NEET from 2018: Supreme Court

New Delhi: The Apex Court of the country has passed an order directing that all examinations to be held in the future by the Central Board of Secondary Examination(CBSE),which including the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG Test will be held on the basis of the similar questions papers for all the examinees, and the question papers shall be in English, Hindi and other vernacular languages.


The Supreme Court bench headed by Justices Arun Mishra and Justice Mohan Shantanagoudar on Tuesday,(December 12), ordered that from next year, NEET will have a similar set of question papers and all sets will be duly translated in English, Hindi and other vernacular languages.


The order came in response to a petition filed against CBSE for setting a different set of question papers for students taking NEET in vernacular language.


The Order of the Court runs as follows:



It is stated by Mr Tara Chandra Sharma, learned counsel appearing for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), that the Board and the Principal has decided that the same question papers will be set for all the examinees, for all the future examinations to be held in 2018 and onwards, and the question papers shall be in English, Hindi and other vernacular languages.

Statement is placed on record. It is ordered accordingly that all the examinations in future be held by the CBSE, be held on the basis of the similar questions papers for all the examinees, and the question papers shall be in English, Hindi and other vernacular languages. Accordingly, the special leave petitions stand disposed off.

During the course of proceedings, Joint Secretary, NEET, Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, informed the bench that recommendations for uniformity in the forthcoming NEET had been sent to the Principal of Board and Advisory Committee.


Acting on the submission of Joint Secretary, the bench said: “Statement of Joint Secretary is placed on record and all petitions related to uniformity in NEET have been disposed of.”
