Siddhartha Medical College to be temporary AIIMS : Foundation Stone laid

Vijayawada: The foundation stone for a temporary administrative block of AIIMS and hostel building worth Rs. 6 crore, to be built at Siddhartha Medical College, in the city, was laid jointly by Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao and Minister for Health Dr Kamineni Srinivas, on Sunday


The temporary infrastructure will remain operational till a permanent AIIMS construction at Mangalagiri in Guntur district comes up.


Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said he was delighted to attend the alumni get together in Vijayawada.


Minister, Dr Kamineni who also spoke at the function said that Rs.90 crores had been spent to build the Government General Hospital in Vijayawada in the last three years. He said efforts were on to allow 50 medical seats to the Manglapuri, AIIMS.


A gym worth Rs.10 lakh was also inaugurated by the two leaders at the same college with donations given by the alumni of the Siddhartha Medical College. The minister also praised the Siddhartha Medical College alumni for donating Rs 10 lakh for the construction of the gym, after being inspired by the Janmabhoomi program.


Measures are being taken for completing the super-specialty block at the GGH at a cost of Rs.150 crore, he informed. The Speaker and the Health Minister enjoyed the time they spent with former friends and classmates at the medical college reports Hans India.
