New Delhi: Sensing some fishy business on behalf of certain candidates and medical colleges in terms of seat blocking and then not joining them, the Medical Counselling committee (MCC) recently issued a stringent warning to such candidates/colleges

Seat Blocking is an act by high ranking candidates first opting for a particular seat in a round and then not joining the same, making the seat available for the next round. It is alleged that many medical colleges collude with the high ranking candidates to indulge in seat blocking so that popular PG medical seats can be made available for lesser deserving candidates

However, with the recent notice MCC informed that both MCC and DGHS are actively tracking/monitoring such candidates and colleges, adding that If at any level of the counselling, it is found that seat blocking is done deliberately, with malicious intent, such colleges/candidates will be dealt accordingly.

The notice issued by MCC stated
Kind Attention to all Institutes / Candidates participating in the Online Counselling for NEET PG 2019:

It has come to notice of MCC, DGHS that some candidates / colleges are deliberately trying to block the seats by opting for the seats and not joining the allotted seats. MCC, DGHS is actively tracking / monitoring such candidates and colleges. If at any level of the counselling, it is found that seat blocking is done deliberately, with malicious intent, such colleges / candidates will be dealt accordingly.

The issue of seat blocking during PG medical counselling is an issue that crops up during every year. Last year as well the MCC issued a warning to candidates for after observing the participation of some groups of students who are likely to block AIQ seats in the second round deliberately for financial gratification without the intention of joining them. The committee had at that time warned that such activity amounts to a criminal offence and would be viewed seriously.
