SCB Medical College radiology equipment sealed for compliance

Cuttack: A team of Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), sealed nearly 7 radiology equipment from two departments of SCB Medical College and Hospital recently.


3 types of equipment of the Dental College and 5 machines of the radio-diagnosis center at the college has been sealed. The college has also been warned against the use of two other high-end machines without necessary approvals. The Cath lab of the Cardiology wing has been asked to comply with the existing norms with a month’s time said Scientific Officer, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, Arati Kulkarni.


According to Rajiv Lochan, a team member, verification is being done to ensure that hospitals and other diagnostic centers adhere to basic guidelines as equipment emanating radiation could have an adverse impact on patients, operators, as well as the environment.


“We usually verify various documents so as to ensure that the machines do not have any defect and will not have any ill-effects,” he told Odisha tv.in
