Cuttack: The SCB Medical College has fallen under controversy after a case against it was reported at a police station for acts of gross cruelty on the part of a doctor and a few security guards on a patient attendant. duty. The incident surfaced when Biswanath Mallik, filed an FIR at Mangalabag police station on Tuesday night.


Biswanath said his father Hatakeswar Mallik, was brought into the hospital’s casualty ward for urination complications, on February 9 at 3 pm on developing severe pain during urination through the catheter. The next day, doctors advised that a hole is drilled in the patient’s stomach to facilitate urination.


The man told the police that while he was sleeping outside the ward, at 2 am, a visiting doctor in the casualty asked 20 patients to move out saying that they did not have an admission. When Biswanath protested, he was allegedly attacked and after a while the five security guards took away his mobile phone forcefully, dragged him to a room and allegedly confined, stripped and assaulted too.


They also dragged the abused man’s father from the casualty and left him near Niramaya Medicine Store, Biswanath’s FIR stated reports Indian Express.


The SCB Medical College and Hospital, Superintendent, Prof Shyama Kanungo said she had no information of the happening on the premises.


Mangalabag police station, IIC, Arun Kumar Swain admitted to an FIR having been filed and said allegations were under scrutiny.
