Rs 10 lakh penalty for those who leave MBBS in Tamil Nadu Self Financing Medical Colleges after August 19, 2018

CHENNAI: Students who leave self financing medical colleges midway after joining a medical course will have to pay Rs 10 Lakh as a penalty, if they call it quits after August 19.Those leaving self-financing courses between August 2 and 19 will have to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Two rounds of counselling of all India quota are supposed to be completed by July 21 by the committee.


Information to this effect is available on the website www.tnmedicalselection.org. and states




Candidates who discontinue the course between 02 August 2018, and 19th August 2018 are bound by the bond and thereby they shall have to pay a sumo of Rs 1,00,000 ( Rupees one lakh only) as penalty for having breached the contract in the bond and candidates who discontinue the course on and after 19.08.2018 and in any date in the subsequent years shall have to pay a sum of RS 10,00,000( Rs Ten Lakhs only) as penalty.

Moreover, the details also add that any sum due from the candidate under this agreement shall be recovered from him/her as an arrear of land revenue





While the Mop-up counseling for all-India quota seats, returned by the DGHS is to ensue after July 25. College Courses are to begin on August 1 and admissions to close on August 18.


“We want to ensure that students don’t opt out of the course after seeking admissions either because they don’t have the money or because they get admission into other courses or colleges,” G Selvarajan, Selection Committee Secretary told TOI.


The rank list is to be released by the Committee on June 28 and the first round of counselling is to begin by July 1.


The state will surrender 15% government colleges seats are to be given away to the all India quota, and a 50%addition made by self-financing colleges to the state quota for counselling.


While DGHS will admit students to all-India quota, the selection committee will give admissions to the remaining 50% of management seats in self-financing colleges.


The Tamil Nadu medical counselling notification also said that any change or modification and relevant information pertaining to this admission process will be made available immediately on the websites: www.tnhealth.org, www.tnmedicalselection.org.
