Bhopal: The Supreme Court brought to halt the ongoing counselling for medical colleges in the state on Tuesday by issuing directives to the Madhya Pradesh Directorate of Medical Education(DME) to adjust MBBS students from the private medical college of the state.

The RKDF medical college's inability to live up to MCI norms had led to private medical college students approaching the SC for admissions into other medical colleges of the state as they were entangled in a zero year.

Supreme Court lawyer, Harish Parasar, who acted as the students counsel in the case, said: "RKDF medical students have been running from pillar to post for admission since the last one year, so we moved an application in the apex court, which has instructed the DME to accommodate all the 150 medical students in six private medical colleges of the state (25 MBBS students in each)," reported TOI.

July 4, has been scheduled for counselling for the remaining 700 seats in the state. Replying to contempt the Directorate informed the SC of its inability to adjust all the 150 into other institutions of the state.

In an earlier report by the medical Dialogues team, it had been reported, The Supreme Court had made a declaration that MBBS students of RKDF facing an uncertain future due to the Medical Council of India(MCI), cancelling the medical college's affiliation, could be adjusted in other medical colleges of the state. It stated that there were sufficient vacant seats available for student admissions in the state's medical colleges. The Apex Court urged the High Court to take an early decision in the case lying pending with it regarding the issue.
