Ranchi: The Medical Council of India(MCI), that had earlier threatened to cancel all 198 PG seats of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi due to relevant information regarding the institution not being uploaded on time has now reversed its decision.

This came after the assurances were submitted by the Principal Secretary, Nidhi Khare of the Health Department. The Council has now returned to assure that no seat reduction would happen in the case of RIMS. On Friday, Nidhi Khare met MCI ‘s Secretary, Reena Nayyar and gave her a count of all UG/PG seats in order to protect seat retention.

Principal Secretary Nidhi Khare in an effort to reassure the college authorities said that there was nothing to worry as RIMS Director had provided the MCI with all asked for information. "In the future, we will try to capture all types of information from time to time. All medical colleges in the state have been given instructions about this,” she told Pioneer.

Simultaneously, the Government of India has agreed to increase the number of seats at RIMS to 250. With this announcement would follow the MCI inspection of RIMS reported the Pioneer.
