Revels-2018- PGIMER and RML hospital's the 7 day Annual spectacle

New Delhi: A jointly hosted annual festival Revels- 2018 of students from PGIMER and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital opened an impressive fashion with the former Coach of the Indian Women’s Kabbadi Team and winner of the Padamshree and Dronacharya award attending the festival’s grand opening as its Chief Guest. The annual fest started on January 8th and will continue till January 14th, 2018.


Speaking on the occasion, the former Kabaddi coach Dr. Sunil Dabbas said that the attitude to sports in the country was gradually changing. He said he was happy to see that besides health issues doctors in the country were gradually feeling enthused about sports too.


Addressing doctors, Dr.Dabbas said that doctors were given the status akin to gods in the country. He said keeping in mind the devotion that people seemed to express towards medical practitioners, it would be good if the doctors in turn besides creating awareness among patients to medicine also went ahead to generate awareness towards sports among the patients, as this would halve the need for medicines in the country. He said that it was his dream to see the youth of the country move ahead not only in the sport of Kabbadi but other sport as well and earn laurels for the country.


In presence of officials of the Union Health Ministry, the Director General Health Services, Dr AK Gadpayele addressing the doctors said it was during the last year of his service tenure that REVELS saw its origin. "I am feeling happy to see that I have also contributed to its beginnings.It is the combined efforts of all that has resulted in this festival turning into a seven-day celebration."


He said despite their busy schedule of doctors including the MS and Director Dr. VK Tiwari , it is heartening to see such enthusiasm among doctors towards sports. The festival is also providing us with an opportunity to witness sporting talent among doctors, he added.


The PGIMER, Dean, Dr. Rajeev Sood who also spoke on the occasion said that the live’s of doctors were also stress-ridden leading to they themselves developing a symptom of stress. Programs of this kind he felt would help ease their stresses as well.


The Chief Guest, Dr. Dabbas on this occasion cut the ribbon to inaugurate the event. This was followed by a cricket match, in which both the Chief guest and other medical officers participated, exhibiting their bat ball prowess. The festive spirit of the event was evident from the fact that the chief guest mingled with both the medical and school students present on the occasion and selfies galore clicked.

RML’s Dr SK Sinha and AK Nayak, along with the RDA President, Dr Sumedh, Sister Superintendent Kavita, Harpreet Kaur and RK Singh were also present for the occasion.
