Rajasthan: Six Medical college construction to be over well before MCI inspection, says MED

Jaipur: The Medical Education Department(MED), is confident that the expected construction completion of the first phase of the six up coming medical colleges, in the state, will be over well in time, before the impending MCI inspection in the later part of the month.


Health Minister Rajendra Rathore has released the deadline for completion of work of the new medical colleges in Bhilwara, Bharatpur, Churu, Pali, Dungarpur and Barmer.


A senior official of the Medical Education Department said, that the faculty recruitment and purchase of equipment for these institutions was already underway, as the MED intends to have these colleges start their new academic sessions for the year 2017-18.


Initially, 100 seats for MBBS will be allocated to the new medical colleges, this only if they clear the MCI inspections and other jobs get completed.


The Medical Council of India inspected the Jaipuria hospital, attached to the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) College of Medical Sciences.Calling it a routine MCI inspection, the MED officials informed that the inspectors met with the medical college officials and discussed hospital development plans.


Presently the state has eight government medical colleges, besides the new upcoming medical colleges. Jaipur also has a new state cancer care institute coming up. A tertiary cancer care institute is all set to come up in Jhalawar as well.
