Rajasthan: Registration for medical counselling gets off the ground

Jaipur: The state this year will be offering 2,055 MBBS seats and 1,494 BDS seats for courses in government and private medical and dental colleges.

A list of medical and dental colleges along with available seats has been released ahead of counselling for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses by the undergraduate (UG) admission board NEET 2017 of the state.
The registration process by the admission board for neet counselling in the state for successful candidates has taken off from July 15.

The cut off qualifying mark for NEET counselling is as follows: 131 and more score -General Category; 118- Physically handicapped; 107- for SC, ST and OBC categories.

"For medical and dental seats, only those candidates who have the qualifying score in NEET 2017 and fulfill the domicile conditions are eligible for counselling, filling and locking of choices as per available MBBS seats in medical colleges. For 15% management/NRI seats, all NEET 2017 qualified candidates can register and there is no restriction in domicile status,” states the notification issued by the admission board.

The highest numbers of 208 seats in each are available in three government medical colleges— Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner; Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur; and SN Medial College, Jodhpur.

The government medical colleges in Ajmer, Kota and Udaipur have 123 seats each. There are 167 NRI and management quota seats in the state.

In the BDS category, 34 seats exist in Jaipur government dental college, while 1,241 BDS seats are available in private dental colleges. 219 is the number available for NRI and management quota seats in private dental colleges.

The criterion for admission to the Government Dental College (RUHS College of Dental Sciences) as per the admission board for selected candidates involves submission of a bond of Rs. 4 lakh in favour of the principal of the said college along with a bank guarantee of Rs 1 lakh.

Candidates selected to a government medical college on the other hand have to submit a bond (Rs 5 lakh) of commitment to serve the state government for two years, reports TOI.
