Rajasthan: Interviews for top positions in medical colleges conducted

Jaipur: The State Government of Rajasthan is conducting interviews to appoint principals and controllers of 10 medical colleges. Seven of the ten are upcoming colleges while three are existing institutions.The state government targets to complete six new ones by July 2017. The Principal/Controller recruitment are to be followed by faculty appointments.


The seven new medical colleges will be located in Alwar, Barmer, Bharatpur, Churu, Dungarpur, Bhilwara and Pali, while the existing institutions are located in Jodhpur, Bikaner and Ajmer.


"The interviews were conducted for seven upcoming medical colleges and three existing medical colleges in the state — Jodhpur, Bikaner and Ajmer. The interviews will continue on Saturday too," Roli Singh, secretary (Medical education) informed TOI.


After the Principal and Controllers have been appointed, they will be responsible for overseeing construction of their respective colleges and faculty appointments said Singh..


The state has eight established government medical colleges already in operation.

Among the applicants, who applied for the post of Principal and Controllers, four are from Sawai Man Singh Medical College in Jaipur, eight from Kota Medical College, seven have applied from Udaipur's Government Medical College, eight from Bikaner Medical College, one from Jhalawar Medical College and 12 from Jodhpur Medical College.

According to an interviewee, out of the 19 applicants called for the post of Principal/Controller only 11 came on the first day.


The Medical Council of India inspection to review the preparedness of colleges is likely to take place soon. The health department has sped up the pace of work in order to complete the first phase of construction by December.
