Jaipur: The state government is believed to be undertaking a check soon on hospitals that were transferred to government-run medical colleges for operations, in order to find out whether the transfer has resulted in effective patient care being rendered at these hospitals.

Two years ago, Jaipur's Bani Park Satellite Hospital, Sethi Colony Satellite Hospital, Kanwatia Hospital, and Jaipuria Hospital were allocated to medical colleges along with various other district hospitals, where the government runs its medical colleges.

The transfer of hospitals to medical colleges was done with an aim to decongest hospitals already attached to medical colleges such as SMS Hospital attached to SMS Medical College.Furthermore, for imparting better treatment to patients 20 district hospitals that came under the independent category under the health department were transferred to government-run medical colleges in Kota, Jodhpur, Bikaner Jaipur, Ajmer, and Udaipur two years ago.

The health department has presently asked for the upward mobility that has taken place in these hospitals in the past two years. "We have sought the details of patients getting registered before and after going into the fold of medical colleges. Also, we have asked them to send details of indoor patients, if they have increased in numbers," a senior health department official informed Times of India.

"We have asked them to send details of doctors from medical colleges deployed in these satellite and district hospitals. Also, they have been asked to send an average number of surgeries, major and minor, being conducted in the hospital every month, before and after its transfer to government-run medical college," the official told the TOI.
