Rajasthan: High Tech laboratory initiated at Jhalawar Medical College

Jaipur: Jhalawar Medical College has become the second government medical college in the state with a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) laboratory. Only Sawai Man Singh Medical College is the other college that has the facility of a PCR lab.


Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje who inaugurated the PCR laboratory recently said that the laboratory would facilitate detection of swine flu hepatitis and dengue and patients would now be able to get test reports for the three.


An increasing number of swine flu cases are constantly being reported in the state. The establishment of the PCR laboratory will lead to early detection of the disease. Through the PCR, experts can analyse genes in blood samples for screening the three diseases.


Ebola affected countries have widely used PCR tests for diagnoses of the disease during their outbreak. The PCR laboratory has come as a boon for Jhalawar as early detection would lead to effective treatment.


Patients from nearby districts and the state of Madhya Pradesh will also be benefitted reports TOI.
