Rajasthan: Foundation stone laid by JP Nadda for Rs. 150 crore Hospital

Bikaner : The Union Health Minister, JP Nadda on Friday lay the foundation stone of a Rs. 150 Cr super specialty hospital on the premises of the Sardar Patel Medical College at Bikaner. The 168 bedded super specialty unit with 46 beds in the ICU and seven operation theaters is meant to give a new direction to healthcare in the state.


The minister said if ready by December, 2017 , the super specialty block of the hospital is bound to change the healthcare scenario.


International standards are to be kept in mind while building the hospital, which is to contain facilities like gastric surgery, neurosurgery, paediatric surgery,nephrology, neurology and gastroenterology facilities said Mr. Nadda. Fourteen new post graduate seats are to be granted to the college. In Rajasthan, medical colleges in Bikaner, Kota and Udaipur are being upgraded as super-specialty centers the minister added.


Talking about his ministry's efforts in the field of healthcare, the minister informed that 70 medical colleges across India were being upgraded by it. Medical colleges in Bikaner, Kota and Udaipur are being upgraded as super-specialty centers, he revealed.


He also mentioned that 58 new medical colleges at an expense of Rs. 190 crore each were being set up all over the country. Eight of these he added were being set up in Alwar, Bharatpur, Dungarpur, Barmer, Churu, Bhilwara, Pali and Sikar districts of Rajasthan.


There is also a proposal to set up two national cancer centers,50 tertiary cancer care centers, as well as, one tertiary cancer care center in Bikaner.


The minister also spoke about the ministry working towards opening more Deendayal Amrit shops, which would provide medicines at discounted prices.


State Health and Family Welfare Minister, Kalicharan Saraf present on the occasion, spoke of efforts being made by the union and state governments to improve healthcare facilities in the state.


Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, who was also present at the event, lauded Maharaja Ganga Singh, who built the college and hospital.
