Ragging at AIIMS: Student Injured

New Delhi; A police report was lodged by AIIMS MBBS students, at the post on the premises, after an alleged incident, where a student was seriously injured during the course of ragging, came to light.


According to the police present at the AIIMS post, no case was registered, as, despite the fight between the graduate optometry students, a compromise was worked out later.


Strict steps have been taken in view of the seriousness of the incident, with the administration having asked the guards present on campus, to keep a strict vigil on the students on campus. This direction comes from the administration, as a step to check ragging at all costs.


Further, a meeting was held on Friday, of the Anti-Ragging Committee at AIIMS, which was attended by the Director, Deputy Director (Administration), Dean, Registrar and some senior officials of the AIIMS were present reports The Tribune.


The officials at the meeting decided that security guards were to play a pivotal role in checking incidents of ragging on campus. A large number of private security guards have been deployed at the Institute. Henceforth, they are to keep an eye on resident doctors, senior and new medical and nursing students.
