Punjab: GMC Patiala visited by Secretary, Medical Education and Research

Patiala: The new IAS, Secretary, Medical Education and Research, Mr. Vikas Pratap visited the Government Medical College, Patiala, Wednesday, to take stock of the administrative and academic and infrastructural progress atthe institution.


The Secretary started his round with a high level meeting with faculty members, to ask for suggestions for improvement of the medical, education and research projects of the college. He also discussed ways of improving patient care with the faculty. Mr. Pratap familiarised himself with the everyday problems of the faculty, promising to resolve them at the earliest. The College Principal, Mr. BL Bharadwaj, was also present at this meeting.


Mr. Pratap went around the state of- the- art medical research unit and virology lab, besides reviewing the working of the various departments of the education and research unit.


He also went around the boys' and girls' hostels, to review the ongoing developmental works. Besides which, he took a look at the state of the art auditorium, the five newly built lecture theatres and the new library complex. Mr. Pratap also scrutinised the mortuary building at Rajindra Hospital.


The Secretary expressed satisfaction over all he surveyed. He assured all assistance for development works of the college.


Dr Manjit Kaur Mohi, Director, Research and Medical Education, and other senior doctors accompanied him on his rounds of the Government Medical College, Patiala.
