Pune: Victim duped of Rs 50 lac with promise of medical admission at DY Patil Medical College

Thane: A 23 year old and her father were conned of Rs. 55 lac on the pretext of admissions in DY Patil Medical College in Nerul. The conman has been arrested. The police said the victim met the conman through a friend in December 2015. The three accused in the conning game have been identified as Santosh Sawant, Mahesh Adate and Pravin Patil.


The three men met the victim and her father at a restaurant, where they promised the victim admission to the said medical college for an MBBS course and asked for a sum of Rs. 55 lac in return for it. The payments to the three accused were done- both through cheques and cash.


However, the promised admission never came and whenever questions were raised about it, the accused said it was in the process and would take a while.


After the elapse of an year, a complaint was filed by the victim’s father at the Naupada police station. The accused Sawant, a resident of Navi Mumbai was arrested by the police on Friday, on the basis of the complaint filed. Adate of Navi Mumbai and Patil of Pune are still at large. The three have been booked on charges of cheating.
