Pune: AFMC gets a new director, Air Marshal CK Ranjan

Pune:The Post of Director, AFMC has changed hands. Air Marshal CK Ranjan has now been appointed as the Director and Commandant Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune. He takes over command from Lt Gen A K Nagpal, who retired on September 30.

A robust academician, Dr Ranjan portfolio carries a series of academic qualifications and positions held, that speak graciously of his achievements. Air Marshal Ranjan has held the post of Principal Medical Officer at Headquarters, Training Command, Indian Air Force. He has done his MD and DNB in Aviation Medicine and is a graduate from Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.

Awarded an MSc in Defence Studies and an MPhil in Hospital and Health System Management, Air Marshal Ranjan has been Professor and Head, Department of Aerospace Medicine at Institute of Aerospace Medicine, Bengaluru, Commandant of Air Force Central Medical Establishment, New Delhi, Commandant of Command Hospital Air Force, Bengaluru and Additional DGAFMS (E&S) in the Office of Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services. A student of AFMC, Pune , Air Marshal Ranjan was commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 1980.

The man who takes over the reins of AFMC now, has a large number of presentations and research publications in scientific journals to his credit, as well. Awarded Ati Vishist Seva Medal in 2015, Vishist Seva Medal in 2008 and AOC-in-C Commendation Card in 1992 for meritorious service, Air Marshal Ranjan makes the country feel proud of his achievements.

Air Marshal Ranjan is married to Sreeja Swamidas, a cardiothoracic surgeon. They have two daughters, Soumyaand Nitya Ranjan.
