Puducherry: The clamour for more in terms of fee by Puducherry private medical colleges has resulted in complaints being made to the concerned quarters with the Puducherry government coming to the forefront asking the colleges to refrain from such indiscriminate collections.

V Jeeva, Under Secretary (Health) in a notice to Manakula Vinayagar Medical College cum hospital and Sri Venkateshwra Medical College and hospital has cautioned that fee has to be in accordance to that fixed by the earlier Committee.

Any changes would have to come in with the new Committee, finalising a present fee structure.

The Puducherry government constituted the fee committee based on the direction of the Supreme Court. The government has heeded colleges to take a written undertaking from parents on any revised fee scales. "Any violation will be viewed seriously," Jeeva said in the notice.

The fee committee under the Chairmanship of retired Madras High Court judge, Sri Venkateshwaeaa Medical College will convene at 11 am on September 27 at the Pipmate conference hall.

"The medical colleges are at liberty to submit their grievances, if any, to the committee on or before September 23 to consider their issues during the next meeting," he said.
