Puducherry: The second day counselling for PG medical admission was suspended following a court notice. For the first time, government quota for PG admission in private medical colleges and deemed universities was provided this year following MCI and Supreme Court directions.

The seats are to be filled up by the Centralised Admission Committee (Centac) of the government and the counselling commenced.

As many as 267 candidates had applied for 162 seats in too. However, since the government failed to fix the fees structure, only 60 of the 140 to whom call letters were sent appeared for the counselling yesterday.

Of the 60 also only 41 had selected their seats in different colleges. In this backdrop, the second day counselling was scheduled to be held today to fill up the vacant 121 seats. Call letters were sen t to 127.

Meanwhile,an advocate sent a notice to Centralised Admission Committee management and health secretary stating that the apex court had ruled that there is no government quota of seats in deemed universities and hence the government could not fill up any seat in deemed universities . Following this, the second day counselling was suspended.
