Puducherry : IGMCRI to start 11 PG courses

Puducherry: 11 new post graduate courses will commence for the next academic session at the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Research Institute (IGMCRI). An announcement to this effect was made by the Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Thursday.

Addressing students at a function at the institute, Mr. Narayanasamy said that besides putting in efforts to make Puducherry an education hub, the government was spending 1 crore on each medical students and also taking steps to introduce post graduate courses for the next academic year.

"We plan to commence 11 new post-graduate courses with maximum intake of 44 students. Initially, we may start with an intake of 35 students in each course," said Mr. Narayanasamy.

The Chief Minister along with the Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao gave away admission letters to selected students for the next academic session. The counselings for these students had been held by the Centralized Admission Committee.

 

The Chief Minister urged the institute to excel in research and offer quality medical services to all. He mentioned the government's intention to bring IGMCRI at par with JIPMER by facilitating funds in that direction.
