Puducherry: IGGMC to get a synthetic athletic track
Puducherry : Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Research Institute is soon going to a synthetic athletic track
Puducherry government has submitted detailed projects to Union Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry for promotion of sports and infrastructure facilities in all the four regions of Puducherry Karaikal Mahe and Yanam and sought financial assistance to get infrastructures ready.
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and Health and Sports Minister of Puducherry Malladi Krishna Rao who were on a visit to Delhi met the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports (Independent charge) Vijay Goel, a release said here.
Narayanasamy and Raorequested Goel to concede the plea of Puducherry for grants for creation of infrastructures in promoting sports here.
Rao presented a memorandum to Goel during the meeting seeking as much as Rs 33.45 crores for modernisation of the existing facilities in the Indira Gandhi Sports complex, for raising a multi purpose indoor stadium and laying of synthetic athletic track in the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Research Institute here and for construction of one multipurpose indoor stadium each in Villianoor, Koodapakkam and Bahoor villages here.
He had sought a total assistance of Rs 5.88 crores for laying play grounds in Yanam region and also urged the Central minister to sanction Rs 5 crores for laying a football turf and basketball court in Mahe region.
