Promise of MBBS seat at Karnataka Medical College: Delhi based Businessman duped of Rs 11 Lakh
Bengaluru: A Delhi-based businessman has been duped of Rs 11 lakh in disguise of securing an MBBS seat for his daughter, who appeared for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET 2019.
As per various media accounts, the businessman was contacted by one Mohan, who took him to confidence by promising to secure an MBBS seat in a notable medical college in Bengaluru in exchange of Rs 25 lakh. After negotiation, the deal was clinched at Rs 15 lakh.
Thereafter, Mohan directed the businessman to transfer Rs 50,000 in his account and visit Bengaluru with the remaining amount in cash on August 28 2019.

Following his directions, the businessman along with his spouse and the MBBS aspirant reached Bengaluru and stayed in a hotel. This is where they met the accused and handed him another 10 lakh rupees in cash. The agreement appeared further genuine when the fraudster handed the MBBS aspirant a letter of seat confirmation and a security cheque.
The family was directed to visit the medical college, the same day at 1 in the afternoon. As instructed, the victim turned up and made several calls to Mohan. However, his phone was switched off and there was no sign of him.
Later, Ajay approached Mahadevapura police and filed an FIR. Cops have launched a manhunt to nab the accused of cheating the man of Rs 11 lakh pretending to secure an MBBS seat, reports Times Now.
The Medical dialogues team reported a similar case where two fraudsters in Karnataka also history-sheeters, were booked on the basis of the complaints filed by the parents of two MBBS aspirants in two separate cases for allegedly duping Rs 50 lakh collectively from them under the promise of a medical seat.
